Webster takes aim at Councillor Wight in GT West

(CMR) George Town businessman and former police officer, Dr. Kenrick Webster had decided to run for the electoral district of George Town West, being the first person to publicly announced he will be challenging incumbent Councillor David Wight for his seat.

Many critics have felt that Wight remains one of the weakest members of the Progressives government and maybe “easy pickings”. His performance during the past four years has been far less than expected by many of the constituents. Wight won his seat in May 2017 by only 16 votes; narrowing edging out Johnathan Piercy.

It was the second closest race of 2017 by one point following Newlands.

Dr. Kenrick Websteris the sole owner and managing director of Webster’s Tours Ltd. He is known by the Cayman community simply as “Webster”.

In 2017 Dr. Webster ran as an independent candidate in the electoral district of George Town East but has notably made a change in where he intends to seek a seat.

He is a former member of the Royal Cayman Islands Police force where he served the Cayman community for almost 10 years. During that time he received an outstanding Commendation Award for his diligent work.

Dr. Webster served as a member of the Public Transportation Board, he also served as Director of Transportation for the Cayman Island Tourism Association. He is well known in the community for his outstanding contributions to many educational programs and our senior citizens.

He was awarded the Paul Harris Award by the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman for his outstanding contribution to the community.

On 28th November 2015, the Canadian International Chaplin Association and International University of Seminary Conferred upon Kenrick Webster the honoary degree of Doctor of Philosophy Humane Letters Honoris Causa.

Dr. Webster supports many nonprofit organizations such as Flowers Sea Swim, Rotary Central Cayman JDRF which is an International organization that funds type 1 diabetes research. He is an avid participant in various fundraising run/walk events and has earned the name of “speed walker”. He remains actively involved with the Red Bay Primary Schools and attends the Savannah Presbyterian Church.
