“Whether or not you reside in George Town West, I encourage every Caymanian to ponder the question, “Are we a country that requires its leaders to work for the benefit of the entire community or one that will settle for minimalistic achievements?” said McGaw-Lumsden. “It is incumbent upon us to vote, to demand more and refuse to settle for anything less than our country deserves. We should demand more from our elected officials and thus I am here to serve, to listen and to help move the country forward for the benefit of all Caymanians.”

(CMR) Pearlina McGaw-Lumsden announced Monday that she will be an independent candidate in the upcoming general election in May for the constituency of George Town West against incumbent David Wight and businessman Kenrick Webster.
Businesswoman McGaw-Lumsden would be embarking on her third political campaign after unsuccessfully running with the CDP in 2017 in George Town North where she obtained 34% of the vote.
McGaw-Lumsden shares that she will be continuing to “meet, connect and listen to the people about their challenges and concerns, hopes and wishes for the Cayman Islands.”
She shared that:
“All my life I have been surrounded by displays of unselfish acts which aim to make individuals, our community, and our country better. For decades, I have given back generously to benefit as many people as I possibly can,” said McGaw-Lumsden. “I’m vying for the opportunity to represent the people of George Town West and the Cayman Islands solely for the purpose of serving and helping to rebuild and shape our country during one of the most critical junctures in our history.”
McGaw-Lumsden has worked in financial services and as a lecturer at the International College of the Cayman Islands. She has a law degree from Bristol University in the UK and an accounting degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. She has further her education with several master’s degrees in law and sports management. She currently owns and operates several businesses and was nominated as a finalist for the Young Caymanians Leadership Award in 2006.
She has served on several boards throughout her career including the Health Services Authority, National Roads Authority boards as well as the Immigration Appeals Tribunal.
Working closely with young people and women she shares her commitment to public service and is a board member of Generation Now, a youth empowerment program. She is a past member of the Young Business and Professional Women’s Club and a former member of a task force for Young Business and Professional Women’s Club which helped implement laws to prevent sexual harassment and stalking.
McGaw-Lumsden will be focused on a number of key areas including:

- Education and Vocational Training
